Part 1

Common themes shared between mine and other students' websites.

01

Hardware Limitations

One theme I saw was that people felt like they couldn't do all that they wanted to do on their computers based on the hardware that's reasonably available today. One person talked about how video editing requires an astounding amount of CPU, GPU, and hard drive capability, while another was frustrated with how much GPU power is needed to run video games well. Others talked about how audio and video playback is compressed and made worse over the network in order to work on more devices, reducing the user experience.

02

Cross Platform Incompatibilities/ Frustrations

The second theme that I saw was that people are frustrated with cross-platform compatibility - whether it be something as simple as frustrations with connecting their bluetooth devices across their laptop, car, and phone, or accessing mobile apps on their computer, people felt like the gap between the UX of using something on a phone and their computers was too big, and something that they would like to see shortened or have greater parity.

03

Similar Social Media Platforms

Almost all of my peers use social media apps like Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Spotify, iMessage, and more. This is likely due to the "bandwagon" effect of social media once it's hit critical mass, where people get on because all their friends are on the social media app too. Some people complained of shortened attention spans due to these platforms, particularly TikTok, while others shared frustrations with finding truly original content.

Part 2

One thing that I would do differently is be a bit more granular about the social media that I use, like including FaceTime, and talking about productivity software I use, like Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and more. I would also talk about the games I play and on which platform, like GTA V on PC, Hill Climb Racer on iOS, and Jenga/ College Station-opoly as board games. I'm still pretty satisfied with how I organized my media, but I will say that I probably could have been more granular in my Social Media bolded section
